Create more than you consume

I’m now writing over at my brand new site. Check it out and follow along.

Use your WordPress Blog to grow your business

Growth. How do you grow your website’s traffic. In the past this has been about stuffing meta tags with keywords and letting Google index you high up the rankings.

It’s almost 2017. Google has improved their algorithms massively. Now good, relevant content matters.

There’s loads of websites that are using their blog to grow. Not only are they using it to grow, they’re using it to share how they’ve grown.

The following websites are all using their blogs to grow. They’re also blogging about it along the way.

A great website has been setup to track all transparent start ups that are sharing their numbers to the public.

That’s great. But I’m not like them!

Let’s go back to our teaching example from this post. How would you go about using your blog to grow your teaching business

  • You could write a weekly ‘top tips’ blog post which covers a topic which is related to your business
  • You could find questions people are asking on Quora about your area of business. Then blog about the answer (and then link back to the article)
  • You can release new content about your business, or even your growth story. People trying to do the same as you can then follow along.

So where to start with blogging?

Simple. First you need to find a WordPress Theme which makes blogging easy. Then you need to commit to writing content frequently. This content should be relevant to your business or products. Most importantly don’t give up. It’ll take time for the content to be indexed by Google and in front of people’s eyes who search for it.

You can help this along the way by making sure your content is nice and easy to share.

Let’s recap the ways to use your blog to grow your business;

  • Start blogging about your business (or about your story).
  • Do it regularly. It will take time.
  • Make sure the content is easy to share.
  • Make the content good and relative to your audience.

Oh, and if you’ve not chosen a platform for your blog. WordPress is of course a great blogging platform to host your content and manage it with.
